Guide
From Checkout to Product Access
USD-only checkout with PayPal or Stripe for one-time purchases and Stripe for subscriptions: pricing, payment confirmation, orders, entitlements, and delivery.
Pay with PayPal or Stripe, in USD
PayPal is accepted at SoundSync checkout for one-time purchases. Stripe supports card payments and available wallets. Subscription checkout currently uses Stripe, not PayPal.
SoundSync supports USD only currently. Products are priced and checkout charges are presented in US dollars; a payment provider's conversion into a buyer's account currency does not make checkout multi-currency.
Managed checkout and payment choices
SoundSync Solutions is the Merchant of Record for purchases completed through SoundSync-managed checkout. SoundSync handles payment processing and applicable sales-tax/VAT calculation, collection, registration, filing, and remittance for those transactions.
PayPal is accepted at SoundSync checkout for one-time purchases. Stripe is also supported for card payments and available wallets. Subscription checkout currently uses Stripe rather than PayPal. Card, wallet, and local-payment options depend on the payment provider, transaction, customer region, device, and checkout configuration.
SoundSync supports USD only currently: product prices, checkout presentment and charges, developer statements, and payouts are in US dollars. International checkout does not mean multi-currency checkout. A buyer's provider may convert a USD charge into the currency of their account. Developers bear applicable currency-conversion costs when receiving funds in another currency. Conversion rates and destination charges depend on the payment provider; no universal conversion percentage is promised.
Price, discounts, and tax
SoundSync charges one 10% fee on product revenue after discounts and before tax. Payment processing is included for SoundSync-managed checkout. Marketplace-attributed sales use the same fee, not a second marketplace charge.
Paid products, subscriptions, and bundles sold through SoundSync checkout must be priced at $9.99 or higher after discounts, before tax. Free access uses supported free-claim or external-redemption flows instead.
SoundSync
Canonical workflow
This is the public implementation sequence.
-
Cart creation
Storefront/embed runtime keeps client cart state, but checkout normalizes productId/items/cartItems/lineItems server-side.
-
Pricing and currency
Server-authoritative product pricing resolves checkoutPriceCents and defaults currency to usd. Clients must not send authoritative prices.
-
Discounts
promoCode, promo_code, or coupon can be validated against server promo rules; automatic checkout offers may apply server-side.
-
Tax quote
When internal tax checkout is active, checkout requires a valid server quote and rejects mismatched Stripe totals.
-
Checkout session
Stripe session is created with safe success/cancel URLs and stored checkout_sessions metadata.
-
Completion
Stripe webhook verifies signature/environment, locks by checkout session, checks total, and creates/reuses order idempotently.
-
Fulfillment
Order service writes ledger, serials where supported, entitlements, marketing audience capture, revenue shares, journal/settlement preview, and purchase email if configured.
-
Customer access
Library and delivery endpoints expose active entitlement access; plugin activation eligibility follows licensing validation.

Failure behavior
These are the documented customer/developer outcomes.
| Case | Current behavior | Recovery |
|---|---|---|
| Product missing | PRODUCT_NOT_FOUND from checkout route. | Refresh product/storefront state. |
| Subscription mixed cart | SUBSCRIPTION_CART_UNSUPPORTED for multi-item or quantity subscription carts. | Checkout one subscription product at a time. |
| Legacy reseller checkout context | LEGACY_RESELLER_CHECKOUT_RETIRED. | Use Partner Hub/external order reporting. |
| Tax quote required/mismatch | TAX_QUOTE_REQUIRED or STRIPE_TOTAL_MISMATCH. | Regenerate quote and do not trust browser totals. |
| Stripe config not ready | Safe config errors include stripeMode only for recognized configuration failures. | Use test mode until live checkout is enabled/configured. |

After payment

Set a price, not a pay-what-you-want amount
SoundSync does not support pay-what-you-want pricing. Set the product or offer price yourself; customers cannot choose an arbitrary purchase amount. Paid products, subscriptions, and bundles must remain at $9.99 or higher after discounts, before tax. Supported free offers use the separate free-claim flow.
